Sven Thorgren takes ‘biggest success’ of his career at Air & Style in Beijing

Sven Thorgren is the winner of Air & Style Beijing 2013. The KINC rider took victory with a stomped Backside 1440 Mute – beating a world-class super-final field, including Sage Kotsenburg, Kim Rune Hansen and Torgeir Bergrem. From Round 1 Sven showed a very high level of performance on the world’s biggest artificial snowboard ramp. His victory at the 6 Star World Snowboard Tour contest, in front of a total of 13,000 thousand spectators, pays off with 1,000 points for the World Snowboard Tour ranking and a majority share of the $100,000 prize money.

Sven said: “Today’s victory is the biggest success of my career. It is a dream come true. Winning with a trick that I never before had landed safely, makes this win very special for me.”

Chinese rider He Wei, the first Chinese ever to compete in an Air & Style contest, finished 15th after a good performance. In Round 2 he lost against the winner Sven Thorgren.

The World Snowboard Tour now moves on to North American for the 5 Star US Snowboarding Grandprix in Copper for a Slopestyle and Halfpipe competition from Dec 16th-22nd, before moving to North Star at Tahoe between January 6th-12th. From the 8th of January Slopestyle riders are welcome back in China for the 5 Star RedBull Nanshan Open, before heading to Europe for the 6 Star Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland.
